🎨 3 exciting new creative projects coming your way

Hope, joy, and resistance is found in creativity and community. These three new projects are designed to give you just that – and that last one I'm so very excited about!!!!

Dear Reader,

I don't need to list all the reasons the world feels heavy right now. You can open social media or a news channel and see them all for yourself.

Despair is a valid emotion we need to honor and work through, but it often leaves us paralyzed, exhausted, and complacent event.

I don't want to live in despair.

So, I'm turning to the things that have brought me hope in the darkest of my days: creativity and community.

Post-surgery recovery has been slow and hard. I'm not going to be marching out in the streets anytime soon. I can barely take client calls! But what I can do is get creative and build both support and artistic spaces for my community.

I've created 3 new projects built around supporting creatives and fostering creative community – and I'm excited to share them with you!

1. The Writer's Career Guide

I can't guarantee this will enable you to tell your anti-DEI boss to F off, but I can promise my new book will give you practical support in building a sustainable career as a storyteller so you can supplement your income and go full-time someday if you wish.

In The Writer’s Career Guide: How to Build a Sustainable Creative Life on Your Terms, I answer all of the questions you asked me about making money from writing, all the questions I've answered on the Letters from Lauren podcast, and all the things you didn't know to ask!

Coming soon on Bordista Press!

2. Letters from Lauren podcast

Since I'm still not able to sit up for full coaching calls, I've started answering your questions in short bursts on my new podcast!

Letters from Lauren gives you advice about living a boldly creative life, publishing queer books, and running a creative business. I answer your questions directly in a way that is unscripted, unedited, and directly from my brain, heart, and soul.

Paid subscribers to my Substack get access to all episodes and can ask their questions to be answered by me. Subscribe by February 15 and get 50% off your annual subscription!

3. Plot Twist: A Collaborative Novel

I saved the best for last because I am so damn excited about this Reader!

WE ARE ALL GOING TO WRITE A BOOK TOGETHER!

Plot Twist is a Choose Your Own Adventure-style interactive project where you get to decide what the characters say and do next. As the story unfolds, subscribers will get to vote on key decisions, shaping the shocking twists, exciting turns, and hilarious mishaps along the way.

Here's how it works:

  • Next week, I'll put three book concepts up to a vote on my Substack.
    • An action-thriller set around a group of kinky vigilante assassins with a passion for justice (and each other)
    • A fantasy novel set around witches vying for power (with a love triangle at its core)
    • Mystery third-choice: take a gamble and see what I come up with!
  • You have a week to vote for which book you want us to develop together.
  • Once the vote happens, I'll get to writing!
  • Each chapter will have twists and turns that you all get to vote on!

This collaborative project is just the community creativity we all need right now!

Join my Substack by February 15 and get 50% off an annual subscription!

I hope that you'll buy the Writer's Career Guide, listen to the Letters from Lauren podcast, and join me in writing a book together in Plot Twist!

But more than that, I hope you find your own creative outlets surrounded by diverse and supportive community. That's how we heal, keep hope, and thrive even in the hardest of times.

The world needs your story now more than ever.™

with love and creativity, Lauren
